ACGNJ Announces .NET SIG

Scotch Plains, NJ. - January 12, 2004 – The Amateur Computer Group of New Jersey (ACGNJ) today announced it’s new Microsoft .NET Special Interest Group (SIG).

The .NET User Group is a free forum sponsored by ACGNJ and Servertec for discussing Microsoft® .NET APIs, technologies, languages, products, tools and best practices. Topics focus primarily on learning and developing with .NET.

.NET is an important set of APIs, technologies, languages, products and tools from Microsoft for the creation and runtime of the next generation of software for the Microsoft Windows platform.

Manuel J. Goyenechea of Servertec will be leading the group’s first meeting, “An Introduction To .NET”, on January 27, 2004 at 7:30 PM in the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad.

“We are very excited starting the New Year offering free .NET training to the local community. Normally software developers pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for similar training. In these tough times of jobs loss in the computer industry, free training in a new high pay technology is a very good thing to be able to do” said Manuel J. Goyenechea.

All ACGNJ meetings are free and open to the public. Pizza and sandwich shops are near by. Attendees who prefer hands on learning are welcomed to bring a laptop or computer to the meetings. Free RJ45 and 801.11b Internet access is available.

Established in 1975, the ACGNJ is the oldest continuously running computer club in the USA. ACGNJ is a non-profit educational group with a current membership of approximately 600 persons worldwide. The group consists of about a dozen special interest groups (SIGs) which meet at various times during the month. ACGNJ meetings are open to the public and address a variety of proficiency levels, from newbie to techie. Every spring, ACGNJ also hosts the annual Trenton Computer Festival (TCF), a two day event consisting of a flea market, seminars and workshops. In the past, TCF has attracted tens of thousands of attendees from the metropolitan New York City area.

Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq "MSFT") is the worldwide leader in software, services and Internet technologies for personal and business computing. The company offers a wide range of products and services designed to empower people through great software -- any time, any place and on any device.

Founded in 1996, Servertec develops and markets innovative software products and services tailored to the needs of Web site developers. Servertec products facilitate the development and maintenance of dynamic, data driven and static Web pages and empower Website developers.

The Scotch Plains Rescue Squad was formed on March 9, 1937 and is the oldest volunteer rescue squad in Union County and the 39th formed in the state of New Jersey.
